The Garden Club of Downers Grove club members traveled to Redbud Creek Farm in Sheridan, Illinois which is not your typical nursery. Shaded trails take you through permanent gardens, along with annual and perennialofferings. Placed throughout the trails are stunning container gardens andvignettes. Our hostess gave us a demonstration of how she creates her containers, including the soil mix, the types of plants, and often, a vintage figurine treasure for a touch of whimsy. She also included a brick to holdup the figurine! We had a boxed lunch under a canopy, provided by a local cafe, then did some shopping at their lovely gift shop, and some members also purchased plants. Their lilies were especially enticing.  Thanks to Debbie W. for planning our field trip, and to both Deb and Dave W. for scouting ahead to make sure it would be a trip enjoyable for any and all club members. And thanks to Mother Nature forthe beautiful weather!
