NATIONAL GARDEN WEEK

National Garden Week is observed in June. Each year, The Garden Club of Downers Grove presents a program at the Downers Grove Public Library, co-sponsored by the Library, with a guest speaker and garden-related theme.

VICTORY Gardens

In this presentation, we will explore the history, purpose and impact of Victory Gardens during WWII. We will dig into how they fostered a sense of unity, empowered families, and contributed to the war effort. Join us as we uncover the strategies, challenges, and enduring legacy of this pivotal moment in agricultural history and discover the spirit of these gardens remains relevant today.

Downers Grove Mayor Barnett proclaimed June 23-29, 2024 to be National Garden Week. Member Sandy K. accepted the Proclamation on behalf the Club. In celebration of Garden Week, the Garden Club of Downers will partner with the Downers Grove Library and present a FREE program, “Urban Coyote”
