MEMBERSHIP
Eligibility
If you are interested in joining the GCDG, contact the Membership Chairman at one of our meetings or email us via the Contact Page. You will be given a form to fill out and sign, and must agree to abide by the membership requirements listed below. Meetings are held in January, February, March, May, September, and October, usually on the third Monday, at American Legion Post 80, 4000 Saratoga Ave, in Downers Grove at 12:15 p.m.
Responsibilities
An Active member is required to participate on three Committees each year, to include:
- House & Hospitality Committee:
Once a year, provide a dish to share and serve at a monthly meeting.
- Ways & Means Committee:
Be actively involved with the November fundraiser "A Festive Touch" held at The Carlisle in Lombard.
- Serve on at least one additional Committee of the member's choice:
Bus Trip, Civic Development, Conservation - Environmental Education/Arbor Day, Garden Therapy, Horticulture, and Scholarship.
Dues
Annual dues of $25 include membership in The Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc. (GCI) and a subscription to the online State publication “GardenGlories” issued in Summer, Fall and Winter by GCI. In addition, members receive our Club newsletter, “The Garden Grapevine,” which is e-mailed to members six times each year.
